STRATEDGE CONSULTING

Glossary

GEO (visibility in AI assistants)

In one sentence

The work that makes a company's pages understandable and citable by ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google's generated answers, when a client asks them a question.

Definition

GEO (generative engine optimisation) refers to optimising a website for answer engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Google's generated overviews. These assistants write an answer and cite the sources they have understood and judged reliable, instead of displaying a list of links.

GEO shares its foundations with SEO (structure, content, structured data). Measurement and the format of answers are specific to it: direct answers, verifiable facts, sources, and an llms.txt file that summarises the company for machines.

Why it matters to a business owner

Your clients no longer search only on Google; they ask an assistant which provider to choose, how much a service costs, or how to solve a problem. A company absent from those answers does not exist for that part of demand, and its competitor is recommended instead.

Nobody can guarantee being cited. What you can do is publish what assistants pick up, measure before and after, and know which questions you are present on, or not yet.

What Stratedge Consulting does

The AI visibility offer, at €3,000 excl. VAT, tests fifty of your clients' questions in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's generated answers, rewrites the direct answers of ten key pages with their structured data, publishes three answer pages on the questions where you are absent, and repeats the survey at four weeks. See the SEO and AI visibility page.

The next step, Readable by AI agents at €4,000 excl. VAT, exposes one action (booking an appointment or requesting a quote) through an MCP server, with human confirmation and a log of every action. Monthly surveys then continue under the Growth subscription.

Common mistakes

Believing the website has to be rebuilt. Markup and direct answers are done on the existing pages.

Writing for machines. Assistants pick up the pages humans find clear, with a direct answer and verifiable facts; hollow text is ignored by both. Confusing GEO and SEO, and funding one against the other, is the other mistake: both start from the same foundations and are measured differently.
